A Soul Blog: “I Got A Testimony!”

Last year was mad crazy, in fact this same time last year, February 2017, I was let go from my job which is actually located in this very building. So as a result of struggling with unemployment, I experienced depression for the first time and I started to have suicidal thoughts. Along with trying to figure out how I was going to deal with all of my financial burdens and trying to make it on unemployment checks, I was just overwhelmed. So yes 2017 was a my worst year ever...So I thought.

But today I was able to look back at that building and say ‘Thank You Jesus! Thank You for setting me free! Thank You for all the storms that came my way last year and and thank You for all of the learning, the pruning, and the growing experiences that 2017 brought.’

So because of that, I can now say 2017 was one of the best years I’ve ever had. And as I looked at this past year through God’s perspective, as soon as I was let go from my job, major companies started working with me. My blog went to a higher level, I got my online styling services off the ground, I’ve traveled all over the country and I didn’t have to pay a dime for it. I was featured in 5 major publications, I made my TV debut on Fox 2 Detroit, I’ve signed some of my highest paying sponsorships ever last year, and on top of that the majority of my new clothes were free.

And more importantly, because I wasn’t tied down to someone’s office and sitting at a desk for 50-60 hrs per week and eating all kinds of joke, I was able to get my health back on track and lost nearly 50lbs. Not to mention, I fell deeper in love with my baby and my best friend because she was there for me during my lowest points.

So yes, as I look back at 2017, my storms were my blessings. And one of the major points I want you to get out of this testimony is that I didn’t look like my struggle. Although I was battling spouts of depression and even had suicidal thoughts at times. I, still through God‘s strength, managed to keep myself together, put a smile on my face, and pressed my way through the next day because I had just a mustard seed of hope and faith that these situations were only for a while. So when you are enduring hardships, say to those situations: ‘if God is for me who or what can be against me?!’ Who is greater than God? No one!

More testimony to come...Stay tuned!
